Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, creating art has been my whole world for as long as I can remember, I’ve never known life without it. I come from a competitive dance background where, through the teachings of my home studio’s faculty as well as that of convention staff and v(ery) cool choreographers who showed me the infinite possibilities of being different, I built the foundation my movement sits upon.
My training began when I was four years old with an initial focus on jazz, ballet, and lyrical, and later expanded to include contemporary, tap, musical theater, and hip hop. With my studio, I performed in Choreographer’s Carnival in 2016 and 2017, trained with a multitude of dance artists in masterclasses and workshops, as well as worked with Los Angeles dance company MuseEffect on a PSA as part of their summer intensive.
After graduating high school in 2019, I (rather unceremoniously) launched myself out of the nest, and the adventure commenced. In an effort to embrace the awkwardness that came with moving 1,227 miles away from home with “wing it” as my only semblance of a plan, I decided to fly headfirst into the unknown. I began taking class in 2020, and during that year, I discovered all of the ways I could rearrange furniture to give myself maximum dance space while minimizing the risk of kicking various household objects. In 2021 I began teaching dance at an after-school program, and the following year, I took part in GagaLab 2022 in both Brooklyn and Moncalvo, IT. In winter of 2023, I worked with Katie Cox on a piece for NACHMO, and in August I headed upstate to join Laura D'Amico for her NY Choreographer's Initiative residency. October had me moving with Kinetech Arts in Oakland for Dance Hack, combining the powers of dance and technology to create experimental works showcased at Mills College.
I recently became a member of The Lambs Club, the oldest theatrical organization in the country. (Fred Astaire was a member, I hope I'll get to meet his ghost someday...)
Currently at the moment, I am working to diversify my movement and strengthen my mind/body connection by delving into somatic practices (the pelvis really is a bowl!) and spending Saturday mornings being groovy and goofy in Gaga class. Oh yeah, and I'm going to be in a musical, but more on that later... I have leaned into my eccentric nature and unsubscribed from the idea that I need to fit into a certain box as both a human and a dancer. My outward energy and fascination with the unconventional make me a force to be reckoned with, I think.
I am bizarre and I will be loud about it!
